We were able to catch up with the amazing Reece Cambell to learn more about his story and how he got into tamoko. Tamoko is the traditional Māori tattooing where the artist creates a unique piece that represents the persons family, and where they are from. It's an ancient craft handed down from generation to generations.
Reece Cambell who owns the shop Generation Ink in the Gold Coast with his lovely partner shares his story on how he started tamoko and why he is passionate about it. Many people from all over Australia and New Zealand travel just to get his work done on them. We have been in touch with Reece for a few years now and always loves his humility and relaxed vibe.
He is not just a talented artist but he is also a musician. If you don't follow Reece We would encourage everyone to do so. He is very active on his social channels and doesn't mind the old selfie. We think he is inspirational because he came from Wellington in search for a better life for his family. He arrived and used his talents to gain success and built his community. He eventually invested in himself by following his dream by starting his own Tattoo shop. He now mentors other tattooists and helps aspiring tattooists learn the craft. Unfortunately you have to book almost 6 months in advanced just to get an appointment with Reece, but I am sure you will leave satisfied.
We believe if you'r doing what you are passionate about, then you are successful! well done Reece and the whanau at Generation ink.
